SOAR's 2020 Christmas Party has been cancelled due to status of different areas of Monroe County. Hopefully we will be able to do something in March. For those of you that have already paid I will be holding payments to go toward a March get together unless you would prefer a reimbursement in which I ask you to contact me at 585-278-6027 and I will send you a check.
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
As you know, the Sheriff's Office Association of Retirees (S.O.A.R.) was established in 1980 with the main objective of maintaining a continued fellowship with other retirees and with current MCSO agency members.
In addition, SOAR allows retirees to participate in social events, to keep informed of current news and happenings, to assist the Sheriff's Office in ways that may be deemed necessary, and to strive to maintain and improve benefits for all.
As happens with retirees, we all grow older and eventually our life of service comes to an end. You may be aware that SOAR maintains a Bereavement Fund which makes payments to the family of our deceased members.
In an effort to maintain and enhance that Fund, we have partnered with Terri Lynn Fundraising. Terri Lynn has been providing premium nuts, chocolates, and snacks since 1936.
A portion of the sales is returned to SOAR so click below to see these fine products.
Greetings to all first responders in our area.
It is never too late to reach out for help. Should you or someone you may
know be suffering from the negative effects of doing our jobs, we are here
PTSD is very real. We've all witnessed the damage.
We all worked together for so long, witnessing and experiencing some of the
worst that any human could be expected to deal with. We were side by side
out in the public eye. Why now, should we deal with the aftermath alone?
Attend one of our group discussions, or you can be referred to a medical
professional if you choose . Thus, our motto; Together Then, Together Now.
Consider taking a moment to visit our website. Code4alpha.org.
You can leave an email and we will get back to you.
Or, call 585-340-7203, Monday through Friday, 9 til 5, and speak to one our
on call team members.
If you're on the fence, take a leap of faith and make the call. We are ready
and willing to help. We do not judge. Our only goal is to assist you in
living the best, healthiest life possible.
Fraternally, Art Muscolino and the Code4Alpha team
The following letter is a request from the Rochester Police Locust Club for assistance with a legal defense fundraiser to help our 7 suspended members facing an “Attorney General” investigation.
We’ve had several individuals and groups reach out to us and other members of the Locust Club about making donations to the legal defense fund for our 7 suspended members facing an “Attorney General” investigation. The Locust Club tried to start a Go Fund Me page, but it was taken down by the company as the purpose of the fundraiser was considered “a violation of their terms of Service.” This is the type of conditions we are facing in an environment that discourages businesses from supporting police in any way.
In order to raise funds, the Locust Club has added a link to the homepage of their website click below. That link can accept online donations but anyone who would like to contribute can also drop off cash or checks at the Locust Club office M-F (8am-4pm). We all realize that this incident could have involved anyone of us. That is why it is important to help
our members in blue now and to get the word out to our supporters. Many family and
community members are willing to do what they can to help us out. Please pass along the website link and let them know we will also accept donations directly at the Locust Club.
Board Meeting will rotate from eastside and westside of Monroe County with easy accessibility. If not able to make the General Membership Meetings in the evenings members are always welcome to come to Board Meetings.

HR-218 is confirmed for Monday and Tuesday, September 28th & 29th. As of now there will be three sessions. (see bellow for the breakdown) On Target has required everyone to wear a mask and stay socially distant, further more we will need to require the first group to leave the building at the completion of their qualification as to make room for the second group to enter. There can be no socializing on the premise like we have in the past.
Possibly we could arrange a second block on that Tuesday if more requests to attend come in. As always if anyone has any questions please feel free to reach out.

Welcome to The Baxter Brief. A quarterly newsletter that is filled with information and news to keep you well-versed in my tenure as your Sheriff. Our goal is to keep you informed on campaign promises kept, new law enforcement initiatives, and significant upcoming events.
Our first fundraiser, Baxter, Bourbon & Bacon was a huge success at Iron Smoke Distillery, one of the best venues in Fairport, NY. The Baxter family is humbled by the number of people that came out to support. It was standing room only. A special thank you to our sponsors!
#TeamBaxterNot listed on the sponsor board:
Committee To Elect Joe Morelle Jr., GIRA Firefighters Association, Michael & Lisa Winderl, Sheet Metal Workers Local 46, Richard & Jean Ottalagana, Carl Cottorone, Caruso Electrical, John Pitton, Don & Wendy Stevens, Sheen & Shine, DeCarolis Truck Rental & Fulmer Construction.
Peak, a female red bloodhound puppy, started working with Deputy Michael Ottley in December, 2019. Peak is MCSO’s first bloodhound K9. Bloodhounds do one thing better than any other creature; find people who are lost, missing, or hiding. Peak’s intelligence and keen sense of smell will assist MCSO in cases of missing persons and search and rescue. Click here to see more pictures of Peak
For the first time in years the number of overdose and overdose deaths in Monroe County have declined. The last two years have been marked by a tremendous amount of work with all our community partners on prevention, enforcement and recovery.
We will keep the pressure on and never let our foot off the gas as we combat the Opioid crisis. Thank you to all of our partners who work to save lives and thanks to our narcotic teams who work in danger to get those selling dirty dope behind bars.

As your Sheriff, my family and I are honored to have your support. I have a vision of great things yet to be accomplished at the Sheriff's Office and within our community. I will continue to work hard to make Monroe County a safer and better place to live, work and play.
We try to answer all correspondence within 48 hours.
