Come Fight For What You Want

If you care about your health benefits, SAVE THESE DATES:

Tuesday, September 10 – 5:30 PM – Legislature Meeting – County Office Building

Saturday, September 21 – 11 AM-12 Noon – SOAR Protest - Mendon Town Hall, 16 W. Main St., Honeoye Falls – Legislator Karla Boyce, Chair of the Public Safety Committee and representative of Mendon, has turned her back on us and supported the Administration. Let’s send her a message!

Tuesday, October 8 – 4:00 PM – SOAR Protest and Legislature Meeting – County Office Building

After battling the County for over 7 years (in the Courts and otherwise) to regain the retiree health benefits we were contractually-promised, it is the opinion of SOAR’s Executive Board that our FINAL and ONLY chance for this to happen depends upon a new County Executive and a Democrat majority in the Legislature.

Of course, there is no 100% guarantee that the Democrats will restore our benefits but it can’t get any worse than what the Republicans have done to us.

We are hoping for significant media coverage at both the September 21 and October 8 events so we need a good showing from SOAR members. SOAR t-shirts and protest signs will be provided.

If you want your promised benefits to be restored and you can make it, then BE THERE!

If you’re satisfied with the status quo – i.e. NO benefits – then disregard this message.

Dinolfo Continues to Ignore Active & Retired Monroe County Sheriff's Deputies

Retired Major Bob Kehoe speaks on behalf of Current and Retired members of the Monroe County Sheriffs Office at the County Legislature meeting on April 9 2019.

MUST READ!! Interview with Bello on Green Light Law

image47

Rochester, N.Y. – Monroe County has officially filed a lawsuit against New York State’s new Green Light Law.

The “Fairness in Licensing” lawsuit argues the new law is unconstitutional.

The Green Light Law allows for undocumented immigrants to apply for driver’s licenses within New York State.

Among the county’s arguments is that the law is in violation of the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.

The County Legislature recently ruled in favor of allowing the county to pursue legal action.

“To me, bringing this lawsuit against the State of New York is all about protecting fundamental fairness in licensing,” Dinolfo said in a statement. “...This law is flawed, fundamentally unfair, and likely unconstitutional, and I look forward to challenging it on its legal merits by taking Governor Cuomo to court.”

“There are already two lawsuits that have been filed in response to the new state law," Bello's campaign said in a statement. "At a time when our child protective services are underfunded and retired law enforcement are seeing their health benefits slashed by Ms. Dinolfo, it is regrettable that she is devoting her administration’s time, energy, and resources toward this politically-motivated lawsuit. While I maintain some concerns with the implementation of this law, which I have addressed with the DMV Commissioner and my fellow County Clerks, I find this lawsuit to be nothing more than an attempted diversion from a real conversation about the issues that matter most to the people of Monroe County.”
